Recreational Program (U4-U12)
The Elk Grove United Recreational Soccer Program is primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without the emphasis on travel or high-level competition. The focus is participation, team building, sportsmanship, physical fitness, skill development, building confidence, self-esteem and having fun. Elk Grove United offers recreational soccer for players ages 4-12 in the fall (August-November)
We will form coed teams in the U5 and U9 age groups. Depending on registration numbers, we may divide these divisions further into age-pure teams at the U9 and U10 age groups. We will form teams in separate divisions for boys and girls in the U11-U18 age groups. As specified by US Youth Soccer's "Modified Laws of the Game for Youth Soccer", U5/U8 teams will play 4v4, U9/U10 teams will play 7v7 and U11/U12 teams will play 9v9. All games will be played on age-appropriate fields, and goalkeepers will be introduced at the U9/U10 age group.
Teams will be led by volunteer coaches/managers and EGUSC will conduct Academy Program training twice a week for U4-U10, and will provide a detailed curriculum with full-season training.

What Parents Need to Know About Recreational Soccer
Competitive games are more fun to play in! Teams are formed through a random allocation format to encourage evenly balanced teams. Our goal is to have evenly-matched teams playing in closely competitive games that are fun and exciting for ALL participants and spectators.
Elk Grove United has two main priorities when forming teams to play at the Academy and Recreational levels:
Provide for fair and balanced competition
Foster a family-friendly team environment
